DG in Germany?

The German Government said in mid January that it will evaluate the use of an happiness indicator, as an added (besides GNP) or new way of looking at how well the country is doing.
The March 2008 issue of National Geographic magazine has a report on the Bhutan GNH (Gross National Happiness) approach, that started in 1972,   and is now  to get seriously tested. Curiosa….maybe…the starting conditions were very unique.
Can you give me a hint on anything else to study re. this issue?
